The Scottish Women’s Lacrosse Team delivered a commendable performance at the 2024 Women’s European Lacrosse Championship held in Braga, Portugal, securing a bronze medal after a series of competitive matches.
The championship featured 19 nations competing from July 10 to 20, 2024.
Scotland, ranked 10th globally prior to the tournament, was placed in Group C for the initial round-robin stage against formidable opponents including Sweden (20-5 W), Spain (16-2 W), and Wales (11-7 W) .
The team showcased resilience and tactical prowess, achieving significant victories that propelled them into the knockout stages.
Knockout Stage and Path to Bronze:
- Quarterfinals: Scotland secured an impressive 11-8 victory over Germany, demonstrating their offensive strength and defensive solidity.
- Semifinals: In a highly anticipated match against rivals England, Scotland exhibited determination but ultimately fell short, with England advancing to the final.
- Bronze Medal Match: Facing Wales once again, Scotland clinched the bronze medal with a 9-7 win, highlighting their competitive edge and strategic execution.
