Safeguarding Update

Safeguarding For Clubs

Date: 4th February 2021

Time: 6.30pm – 8.00pm (login opens at 6.15pm)

Host: Lindsey Booth

Lacrosse Scotland is delighted to have Lindsey running this session. She has a vast amount of knowledge in the area of Safeguarding and will be able to dispel some of the myths that make people head to the hills e.g. on hearing 3 letters PVG. Great strides have been made in this area which Lindsey will tell you about and this session is a great opportunity to get your questions answered, not just about PVGs but the broader subject of Safeguarding.

This is a short 90 min session to support clubs to make sure you have the basic safeguarding in place for your members, both children and adults. The session is facilitated by Lindsey Booth an independent safeguarder who works in sport and is also the national trainer with sportscotland for their safeguarding training courses. The session on the 4th of February will cover:
  • Safeguarding for clubs
    • what do we need and how do we put it in place advice for both adult and children’s clubs
    • Do we need a safeguarding officer (for clubs with only adult members and those with a mix of adult & junior members)?
    • Safeguarding for clubs – getting started check list
  • Do we need PVGs and if so how do we get them?
  • Safeguarding Q&A – for clubs to ask any questions

Every club should send someone to this session even if you do not have a junior section as this legislation covers adults too.
