Legends – Andy Pearson

26 April 2019

Andy watched his first game of lacrosse; Played first game against Edinburgh Ladies in annual game against “the men”. Played annually in that fixture then attended ELLC training and occasionally played in goal when they were short. Because there regularly was a shortage of women players the league rules were changed to allow some men players on the pitch. Edinburgh Ladies changed their name to Edinburgh Thistle and he began playing for them regularly.

1980 – 1995: Andy Pearson has produced all the International Match programmes and posters for the SLA. He has created all the graphics, forms and stationery for the 1993 Lacrosse World Cup at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Andy was a member of a Committee of six who organised the first Scottish World Cup, and was Site Manager, responsible for on-site equipment and facilities for the event at the Riccarton campus.

Andy created the database, designed the format and the reporting for the membership of the Scottish Lacrosse Association and produced the Members’ Handbook annually for many years. He investigated website possibilities for the Association and was then asked to create a website in about 2002. This he updated when SLA changed its name to Lacrosse Scotland and Andy continues to maintain and update the present website. Andy has been a member of the Home Internationals Organising Committee from 1980 to the present day. He qualified as an A umpire and has been responsible for running the score table at all Internationals since the early 1980’s.
