The Lacrosse Scotland Men’s and Mixed Leagues will be governed by generic rules set out below and the following specific rules for that league.
Generic Rules
1. The HOME team should confirm the match with the away team at least 3 days before the fixture date.
2. Results should be sent to the League Secretary by text/e-mail by 8pm on the Sunday of that weekend. This is the responsibility of the HOME team. Failure to do this will result in the loss of 1 point for the HOME team as it will be considered a late result.
3. 5 points will be awarded for a win. 3 points will be awarded for a scoring draw. 1 point will be awarded for a non-scoring draw.
4. Where a match is cancelled due to weather the HOME team must inform the League Secretary IMMEDIATELYand provide a rescheduled date within 1 week. Failure to do this will result in the loss of 1 point for the HOME team as it will be considered the same as a late result. If no rescheduled date can be found before the end of the season the match will be declared a draw.
5. Where a match is cancelled for any other reason, the HOME team must inform the League Secretary IMMEDIATELY and provide a rescheduled date within 1 week. Failure to do this will result in the loss of 1 point for the HOME team as it will be considered the same as a late result. If no rescheduled date can be found before the end of the season the team that caused the cancellation will concede 3-0.
6. Signed team sheets should be returned (by post or e-mail) to the League Secretary within 1 week of the match. This is the responsibility of the HOME team. Incomplete or missing team sheets, will incur a penalty of 1 point. (Team sheets should be completed by both captains pitchside. It is then the HOME team’s responsibility to send it to the League Secretary. If clubs prefer to submit team sheets online, it is the HOME team’s responsibility to submit BOTH squad lists including goal scorers)
7. All players must be registered with Lacrosse Scotland. Playing with unregistered players will incur a penalty of £10 per match in addition to the registration fees due. (Players may be registered last minute by text/e-mail, but they must be named prior to the fixture.) Payment AND full registration details must be received within 1 month of their first fixture or the player will not be deemed registered and the financial penalty will be applied
8. A player may not be registered to play for more than one club in the same League in any one season. (A male player may register for two different clubs – one for the mixed league and one for the men’s league)
9. Where a club has two teams in the same league, no player can play for both teams over the same weekend unless:
a. You are the substitute for an injured goalie, OR:
b. You are the substitute for an injured player if the number of players would have dropped below 10 for men’s or 12 for mixed.
10. All league games are to be played by 1st April. Any outstanding fixtures will have points allocated as per rules 3 and 4. (This date may be reviewed mid-season to accommodate a poor winter)
11. In the event of a tie on points at the end of the season, the league will be decided on goal difference, and then goals scored. If all things remain equal, the result of the match between the teams on equal points will be taken into account, with the League title being awarded to the winner of that match. Should that match have been drawn, the League title will be shared.
12. Teams must comply with the rules of lacrosse with regards to uniform i.e. same colour of legally numbered bibs/shirts. If there is a clash of strips, then the HOME team should find an alternative colour.
Men’s League Specific Rules
1. All matches will be played in accordance with the current FIL men’s rules i.e. 4 x 20 minute match, except that if the score is tied at the end of the 4th quarter, the result is a draw.
2. Sticks must comply with current FIL rules, except that for the 2011-12 the width of the stick must be at least 4 inches wide, rather than the current FIL value of 6 inches. This dispensation will be removed at the end of the 2011-12 season.
3. All players must be 16 years old or older.
4. There must be 2 referees for each match. Each team must provide a Level 1 referee or above. Failure to do so will result in the loss of 1 point. The referee does not have to be a club member.
5. Each team will play two league games against each other team in the league i.e. one home and one away.
Mixed League Specific Rules
1. All matches will be played in accordance with the current FIL women’s rules except where detailed otherwise.
2. All players must play with sticks that comply with either current FIL rules or which were compliant for the U19 World Cup 2003. If a player refuses to remove illegal equipment from the game then the game will be ‘won’ by the opposition.
3. Male players are allowed in league games. Four are allowed on the pitch at any one time, only three of which can play outfield. If four play, one must be in goal. In this situation the goalkeeper cannot go beyond their defensive restraining line (i.e. the restraining line nearest the goal) if by doing so this results in more than three male players being outfield.
4. There must be 2 umpires for each match. Each team must provide a ‘P’ umpire or above. Failure to do so will result in the loss of 1 point. The umpire does not have to be a club member.
5. Each team will only play one league game against another team.
