SCOTLAND ANNOUNCES WOMEN'S LACROSSE WORLD CUP SQUAD
Scotland Head Coach Dave Simpson has announced the final squad and reserves for the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup to take place July 12-22 at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, England.
"After a long and competitive trialling season involving two US tours and the Home Internationals tournament, we've selected the 18 players we feel give us the best chance of success at Worlds," said Simpson. "We have an outstanding mix of experienced players and fresh talent, testament to the quality and depth in the Scotland set-up. They are all playing at the top of their game and as a cohesive unit, and I think we can give any opponent in the tournament a challenging run."
Coach Simpson is joined on the Scotland staff by assistant coaches Jen Cohen and Lauren Goerz, team manager Fiona Gee, and team physio-therapist Andrew Jones.
Currently number six in world ranking, Scotland have been placed in Pool A in the 2017 World Cup along with the top five teams in the world which include USA, Canada, Australia, England, and Wales. Scotland's first match will be against USA on July 13th at 3:00pm, with the final day's gold/silver and bronze matches to take place on July 22nd.
