How are you finding the accommodation in Denver?
The accommodation at the University of Denver has been pretty nice, the rooms come with fridges, microwaves, and a lot of room for activities. In the 2010 Championships in Manchester each player was assigned a single room which was great but out here we are sharing, which I don't mind as it allows for a good laugh.
What team are you most looking forward to watching at the Championships?
The Auld Enemy, I am looking forward to hopefully playing against them. Our loss to England at the 2010 Championships was tough to take so it would be nice to get some vengeance.
What is your weapon of choice?
I use an Evolution 3X with a Krypto shaft and two-tone Gonzo mesh.
What has been your favorite playing experience?
It has got to be playing in the 2008 Minto Cup with the junior Mountaineers. However, this is crossed with the 2014 British National Championships semi-final win. I scored the game winning goal in over-time and I've never had another goal like it.
How do you manage to balance such an encompassing full time job with such a high level of training?
Not too bad actually, I work 9-5 and then find the time in the evenings. I play in the town's league and have found that the box league helps improve the skills. Outwith that it is just about getting in the weights and conditioning sessions. Its not too difficult to find the time if its the main thing your going for.
Why number #22?
Pure and simply, Gary Gait.
Do you have a tip for new players?
Listen to the veterans! They are vocal and have all been there. You can always pick some bits of wisdom from these guys, so listening to what they have to say will help you get better.
