A TEAM AND B TEAM TRAINING BEGINS SEPTEMBER, 2014.
Coach Dave here with a reminder that it’s time to register your interest in trialing for the 2014-2015 Scotland Senior National Womens Lacrosse Team.
This is a very special time for womens lacrosse in Scotland and we don't want you to miss out! Thank you to those of you who have already signed up. I'm thrilled at the quality and variety of players who are coming out—returning 2014 players, 2013 World Cup players returning after a break, club players trialing for our new “B” team, and new players we haven’t had the chance to work with before. But we know there are more of you out there and we want to encourage you to sign up now for what will be an exciting journey which will begin with training weekends in Edinburgh and take us to the US east coast, London, and the Czech Republic.
Let me share a bit of my approach to coaching this season: We are absolutely dedicated to train our elite players to compete at the very highest international level, with a view to compete in the finals for the European Championship. At the same time we need to develop our future elite players and so I am committing to have a competitive “B” team for that purpose. So, if you love playing lacrosse but don’t feel you’re quite up to elite level yet, consider trialing for the B-team. If you’re willing to do the work, we’re willing to commit the resources to help make you the best lacrosse player you can be.
There’s lots of specific info on training schedule, fixture calendar, budget and more still to come, but for now here are the broad strokes for the upcoming season:
1. Summer 2014—various friendly matches organized by squad captains
2. September 2014—voluntary captain’s practice to get acquainted/knock the rust off the sticks
3. October 2014—monthly mandatory squad training weekends commence (no training weekend in Dec)
4. February 2015—playing tour of US east coast
5. March 2015—Home Internationals, London
6. August 2015—European Championships, Czech Republic
If you’re interested in trialing (or if you’re not sure and want more info—responding doesn’t represent a firm commitment), please email wlaxcoachdave@gmail.com with these bits of info:

Flame Knight, one of our current team captains, will get back to you with an invitation to join our private facebook page where you can get all the info you need to know as it gets released. Our other team captains, Ailsa Stott and Suzie Oliphant, along with our team manager Fi Gee, stand ready to touch base with you, answer any questions you might have about trialing (they are experts at how to manage money and coordinate time off of work/school when needed!).
And as always feel free to get back to me with questions or to arrange a skype chat—my door is always open.
