Head Coach John Kenney’s April News Letter
The final push for the U-19 Worlds and the 2012 Euros began this weekend with a training session in Glasgow. Thirty Eight players attended the 2 day session and were treated to lots of lacrosse and some fitness training. Tests included the Beep test, the T test and the Compass. “There were some athletes who improved on their fitness from February and some, well, not so much”, remarked Performance Director Keith Robertson. “Fitness was the key to our success in the 2010 worlds and hopefully, it will be a key this summer as well.”
Emphasis the last few training sessions has been on shooting and understanding the flow of the offense. “The ball movement is much better, but we must so completely understand the Offense that it becomes intuitive”, remarked Coach Kenney. “We are not setting up the dodges as well we should and there is still a bit of hesitation on where the outlets and ‘looks’ are when we break off the dodge”.
Defensively, the squad looks solid. The return of Bobby Hetherington to some training sessions has bolstered the Defensive leadership. Bobby has been a part of the 2008 U19’s,2008 Euros as well as the 2010 Worlds. International experience is invaluable to a squad’s success.
Tentative Preparation for 2014 Worlds Underway
Long Term plans are beginning to be made as the 2014 Worlds loom in the ever nearing future.

Games Fri , Sat, Sun)
?? May 2014 British National Championships (Manchester)
?? June 2014 Scotland vs USA All Stars
?? July 2014 World Championships (Denver)
