Fundraising for the U-19s

Julia and Hamish McHarg are cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in a week to help raise funds for their son, Jamie, to get to Turku. It’s a massive effort and hopefully so of the boys will accompany them on a leg of their journey.

If you’d like to know more please head over to www.mcharg.me.uk

We wish them good luck, from all of us here at Lacrosse Scotland!

In a less energetic fundraiser many of the U-19 will be packing bags for shoppers at ASDA in Newton Mearns, East Renfreshire on March 10th. If you’re free and love packing bags come on down!

Provisional Squad for the World U-19 Lacrosse Championship 2012

In July 2012 Scotland Under-19s will compete at the World Lacrosse Championships in Turku, Finland.

Interest in representing Scotland has been very high and the selection process has been particularly competitive. A preliminary training squad has worked extremely hard over the past year and the final squad for the Championships will be selected in February 2012. The development trajectory of this group of players has been exponential and there is excitement building ahead of the World Championships, but a lot of hard word lies between now and then.

There are several Scotland training sessions (which includes the Senior Squad), warm up games in Manchester and the British National Championships in May. The players have been given fitness programs to follow that should have them hitting peak levels come July and putting us in the best position possible to showcase Scottish Lacrosse to the world. The World Games will, therefore, mark the culmination of two years hard work for the players and coaches.

The players are self-funding and have undertaken a “Run to Turku” event where each player had to cover 5 miles running each day for a week to complete their “leg of the journey”. T-shirts have been made for the players to sell for funds also. Representing Scotland is not taken lightly and the boys have been working extremely hard to realise their dreams. If you wish to contribute or have ideas for fundraising then please contact us.
