LACROSSE IN SCOTLAND > Schools

Lacrosse is a dynamic team sport played by both boys and girls in schools across Scotland. The main playing season runs from January to March and comprises regular friendly fixtures as well as a variety of competitive tournaments.

In Scotland we have the Scottish Open Tournament in mid-January which plays host to all of the Scottish schools as well as many guests from south of the border.
The season culminates with our in-house tournaments for senior players as well as at the U15 and U14 age group levels.

Many of our schools’ teams also travel further afield for competitions and are regularly involved in the National Schools Tournaments as well as the Small Schools equivalent. In 2008 the National Small Schools Tournament was dominated by Scottish schools with 3 in the top four of this British event.

The highest achievement in Scottish schools girls lacrosse is to represent the country at Junior Scotland level. Trials begin at the end of September with the Junior Internationals in March. For more information on Junior Scotland please visit the ‘Junior Scotland & U19’ section of the website under the ‘Womens’ tab at the top of the page.
