The Barrat Trophy Winner 2008/09 Announced
By Jemima | May 21, 2009
The Barratt Trophy is awarded annually to Lacrosse Scotland’s most improved female player. Nominations were made by the head coaches of our Junior, U21 and Senior squads, and then a winner announced by the Women’s Performance Group.
The following players were nominated for the 2008-2009 season:
Emily Zaborski, U19 Scotland Squad
Emily Clixby, U21 Scotland Squad
Emily Knight, Senior Scotland Squad
Jemima Garthwaite, Senior Scotland Squad
The winner for season 2008-2009 is:
Emily Zaborski, U19 Scotland Squad
Emily Zaborski has played with the U19’s since the World Cup in 2007. This season she has improved tenfold – her attacking knowledge is that of a senior player and she is clearly a dynamic and threatening home on the pitch.
She has lead the team by example – her enthusiasm and dedication to the task at hand has raised the bar for the team.
She is the leading scorer for the team- she has worked immensely hard to improve her crease rolls, her fakes and left-handed shots. The diligence with which she approaches identifying and improving weaknesses in her game and overall play is admirable and a mature approach to her lacrosse. The difference in her play from weekend to weekend has been instantly recognisable.
